THE SERIC LANTERN

The Seric Lantern is a bespoke mooncake gift box designed by Cynthia Mak for a special collaboration between Rosewood Hong Kong and The Palace Museum.

Reimagining the traditional hanging palace lantern through modern geometric deconstruction, the vessel bridges Mid-Autumn Festival rituals with a deeper cultural narrative. Fusing Rosewood’s iconic geometry with timeless Palace Museum rooflines, the design serves as both a Mid-Autumn ritual and a tribute to an upcoming Palace Museum exhibition on Qing dynasty temporal cycles.

Designed with circularity at its core, the packaging is crafted to live on beyond the festival as a timeless home ornament
